Class of 34 endows scholarship This fall, Emory will name the first recipient of the Class of 1934 Scholarship, funded by an endowment established to benefit students pursuing an arts and sciences or business degree.
More than $100,000 was contributed by thirty members of the class or their surviving spouses and descendants, after the idea for a namesake scholarship arose at the Class of 1934s sixtieth reunion. This class has a pretty high regard for itself, and we felt its name ought to be perpetuated, says Trustee Emeritus RANDOLPH W. THROWER 34C-36L. We hope it will be somewhat of a challenge to other classes. Thrower, fellow Trustee Emeritus BOISFEUILLET JONES 34C-37L, and classmate MYRON F. STEVES Sr. 34C, a retired Houston insurance executive, led the fund-raising drive. |
