	Ones to Watch: Brian M. Oubre '99C
Major:	Economics and history joint major
Why he is known on campus:	First-ever Caucasian president of Indian Cultural Exchange (ICE). "Many of my friends in high school were Indian, so I was interested in Indian culture before coming to Emory. My involvement with ICE [first as co-chair of Diwali Festival of Lights, then as treasurer, and finally as president] has been very valuable to me."
Post-graduation plan:	Summer position as a manager in Emory's Office of University Conferences; applying for an internship in India for fall 1999; returning for law school in fall 2000
Career and life plan:	Pursue a career in international law or business
Motto:	"Having visited Graceland three times, I like the motto Elvis used in his insignia: 'Taking Care of Business in a Flash.' "
Most inspiring teacher and course:	Patrick Allitt, "U.S. Intellectualism." "The class was very small, and the exchange of ideas was amazing. Studying American intellectual movements was fascinating."
Favorite thing about Emory:	"Its vibrant outlook as an institution. Emory is a place of limitless resources. With the academic departments expanding and new services being provided, there is so much opportunity for programming ideas and enhancements. Emory possesses the talent and the means to continue to thrive."
