Daniel O. Newberry '43C of Bethesda was awarded the American Foreign Service Association's 1997 Achievement Award in recognition of his work on The Foreign Service Reader, an anthology of the Foreign Service Journal.
J. Jack Kirkland '48C-'49G of Wilmington, Del., received the 1997 DuPont Lavoisier Medal for technical achievement in May 1997. Kirkland is a founding father of modern liquid chromatography, the science dealing with the rapid and precise analysis of mixtures of compounds. |
