The
Schatten Gallery of the Robert W. Woodruff Library this spring
hosted the exhibition "Selling Race: Cinematic Poster Art
From Race Films to Blaxploitation." Posters, lobby cards,
and press books from Emorys African-American Cinema Collection
documented the marketing of such films as Black Like Me,
Cleopatra Jones, and Super Fly. Emorys collection,
unique in the Southeast, complements the work of Emory professors
Dana F. White and Matthew Bernstein, who are researching a book
on segregated cinema in Atlanta.
